Busy Month!

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

This month, my First Year Odyssey class performed a mini-fringe event in the Balcony Theatre. It was a terrific time - we had a good, loyal audience and the scenes, songs, poems, and movements were entirely created by the students. It was a highlight of my time here at UGA thus far!

I'm also on the Board of the Georgia Theatre Conference; I am the Chair for the Professional Division which oversees the one-act play competition. Our winning playwright was IB Hopkins for his play CLUTCH, which was presented at The Savannah Theatre (the oldest still-running theatre in the US celebrating its bicentennial this year) by the members of the Savanna Theatre Resident Company. Playwright/screenwriter Topher Payne served as the respondent (and was also inducted into the Georgia Theatre Hall of Fame.)

I also had a play in this year's Classic City Fringe Festival. It was essentially a first draft (yikes!) of a new play called Tracks. The reading was directed by Jake Hunsbusher (MFA in Dramatic Media Student) and featured undergraduate students Alana Horne, James Kelsey Cogswell V, Alex Barlowe, Carter Lee Iddings, Michaela Wilkins, and community member Lexi Hunsbusher, with an original song co-written by Bray and the Hunsbushers. The stage manager was undergraduate student Lukas Woodyard.

My play CAPSTONE based on the myth of Romulus had a staged reading on the 11th at EXIT Theatre's EXIT STAGE LEFT as part of the SF Olympians Festival: Roman Holiday!

And I just finished a draft of a new play that I co-wrote with Jake Hunsbusher as a commission. More on that soon.

A busy month indeed - now onto grading and a horror movie marathon.

Cheers,

Bray
